What this mod does

Omega Necesse bolts three large systems onto vanilla Necesse:

  • Universal taming — nearly any hostile mob can be tamed with a Soul Gun + tranq dart.
  • 91-variant elemental/trait system — every wild hostile rolls one of 91 variants across 13 thematic groups, each carrying a stat multiplier, an on-hit debuff and an active ability.
  • Tier-based world progression — killing each of the 13 vanilla bosses unlocks a stronger tier of wild spawns, ending in soul-driven god-tier infusion and Zodiac / Darkness altar bosses.

Taming

The basics

Craft a Soul Gun and ammo-appropriate Tranq Darts for the target's zone. Shoot the mob; once its tame-meter fills it becomes your companion and inherits its rolled variant.

What a tame keeps

  • Its variant (prefix + stat multiplier + ability + on-hit debuff).
  • Its current tier (BASIC → OMEGA from wild spawns; higher tiers via soul infusion).
  • An optional unique charm (regular or legendary) that adds further stats and may grant another variant on top.

Friendly fire

TamedProtectBuff stops you damaging your tames and vice versa. Tames set getTeam() == -100 so vanilla enemy chase-AI still targets them, which keeps them useful as a damage sponge.

Variants

Every wild hostile rolls a variant on spawn. Variants are not tiers — the three (or seven for Lucky) variants in a group are different play-styles, not power steps.

Anatomy

  • Prefix — color-tinted name above the mob (e.g. Permafrost Tamed Goblin).
  • Multiplier — applied to max HP and damage.
  • On-hit buff — a vanilla debuff applied to anything the variant hits.
  • Active ability — trigger-driven (fires when the mob deals or takes damage), 2.5s cooldown.

Roll rarity

  • Non-Lucky non-apex variant: ~1.6% each.
  • Non-Lucky apex (highest-mult child of a group): ~0.3% each.
  • Lucky non-Cursed variant: ~0.16% each.
  • lucky.cursed (the apex of Lucky): ~0.03%.

See the Variants tab for every entry, its multiplier and ability shape.

Unique Charms

Each tameable species has a regular and a legendary charm. Charms drop from kills and stack on top of variants — they add their own HP/damage/speed/DR multipliers, can grant an additional variant ability, and the legendary tier often layers a god-tier ability rotation (Variant-God, Group-God, Darkness, Zodiac, etc.) on top.

Charm stats are multiplicative with tier and variant multipliers. A legendary charm on a high-tier tame is what carries you into the altar bosses.

See the Unique Charms tab for all 88 species and both tiers.

Tier progression

The world starts at BASIC. Killing specific bosses raises the wild tier.

Bosses spawn one tier above the current wild tier (capped at BOSS). Soul-infusion is required to push companions past OMEGA.

Tips

  • Stack a legendary charm + a strong variant roll for compounding multipliers — charms are multiplicative on top of the variant's own multiplier.
  • Tamed Cursed never curses you or your party; only hostile non-tamed mobs.
  • Tamed Radiant heals same-team mobs — a single Divine tame keeps a small army alive.
  • Ranged tames deal damage directly through their on-hit code — vanilla projectile team-filter is bypassed, so they still hurt enemies after taming.
  • Variant prefixes appear in death messages too (e.g. "Killed by Lucky Cursed Goblin").
